Microbiology QC Team Leader
The Microbiology QC Team Leader provides direction for and/or manages the areas daily workload, planning, compliance, and overall customer service. The Team Leader is responsible for coordinating staffing, schedules and logistics associated with microbiological testing in direct support of injectable drug manufacturing operations as well as a number of external/global customers. The Team Leader must be committed to personnel interactions (approachable), and will spend considerable time as a mentor/supporter of reporting staff. The Team Leader is also responsible for coordinating employee performance/development planning. This position requires the ability to multitask/prioritize, excellent written and oral communication skills, decision making ability, and good interpersonal skills.
KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES:
- Proactively manage day-to-day business. This includes interaction with production planners and leadership to manage workload and throughput.
- Interact effectively with customer and support groups.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of microbiological testing methods and processes.
- Maintain a high level understanding of injectable drug manufacturing operations.
- Develop career plans for employees.
- Enforce compliance to all procedures, methods, and other regulatory commitments.
- Provide technical understanding/interpretation of the regulations applicable to parenteral microbiological testing for cGMP purposes.
- Serve as a team change agent; safety agent.
- Participate as a primary contact for internal and external audits.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely, and accountable for supporting all Health, Safety and Environmental Corporate and Site Goals.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors of Science (4 year college) degree in Microbiology or related science.
- Understanding of microbiology principles relating to sterile injectable products manufacturing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Deep understanding of compliance requirements and regulatory expectations.
- Ability to manage with a focus on continuous improvement.
- 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in a GMP environment.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B status) for this employment position.

- Effective time management skills.

- Parenteral products manufacturing experience.
- Microbiological testing experience.
- Leadership/supervisory experience.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
- 8 hour days Monday through Friday.
- Required to wear a pager off shift and to respond to operational issues.
- Minimal travel required.
- Applicant will work in various areas within the manufacturing plant. Some allergens may be present. Mobility requirements and exposure to allergens should be considered when applying for this position.
- Tasks may require repetitive motion (e.g., keyboarding).
- Post-offer testing may be required.
