Microstrategy BI Developer, Full Time
Our direct end client is looking to hire a Full Time Microstrategy BI Developer; this is a salary + bonus opportunity; only candidates with unrestricted work authorization are encouraged to apply (client can not sponsor).
The role of the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Developer is to develop applications, dashboards, reports and tools to enable the operational teams to interpret an opportunity, identify a problem or understand more about a business scenario.
A key requirement will be the ability to understand the strategy and objectives of each business organization and interpret their vision, description or objective while being able to make recommendations or suggestions on how to use data to be more successful. Not only will the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Developer build tools as described but he or she will understand WHG's data / structures intimately and how it aligns with our overall corporate strategy so proactive observations can be presented with the intent that it can be actioned positively.
The position demands an individual who is highly creative, a critical thinker and an ability to take complex situations or problems and translate into a solution that drives efficiency, self-service and a high level of business insight.
The MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Developer will work closely with ETL and data architects as an integral contributor to the model that promotes a service based, centralized solution that correlates multiple KPI's and exposes through a single point of access.
Responsibility:
- Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for BI development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders
- Design, code, test, and document all new or modified BI systems, applications, and programs
- Develop the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions
- Develop dashboards, applications, and portal interfaces
- Analyze user requirements and, based on findings, design functional specifications for BI front-end applications
- Produce ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI system
- Design and deliver end-user training and training materials; provide technical support as necessary
- Troubleshoot BI tools, systems, and software; performance-tune these applications as necessary
- Act as evangelist for BI benefits across the organization; promote BI usage to relevant departments
- Conduct research and make recommendations on BI products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts
- Identify areas of opportunity for automation that eliminate manual steps and independently propose alternative process improvements, enhancements or additional products
- Quality control is a personal responsibility, each team member will be responsible for assigned portions, but all will be responsible for enhancing and raising the bar for accuracy and consistency.
Qualifications
BS degree required. Master's Degree in Business Administration or other advanced degree preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the hospitality industry
- Leadership experience and expertise in business intelligence; ability to synthesize disparate and complex sources of information and create value-added insight and perspective
- Strategic thinker with high-level understanding of trends and market dynamics.
- Demonstrate high intellectual energy and curiosity.
- Ability to think strategically in 'real time', adapting to changes in the industry and the organization; flexible and nimble
- Familiar with design of data warehouse data architecture techniques (ODS, EDW, DM, ROLAP, MOLAP).
- Demonstrated planning and project management skills in a large corporate environment
- High degree of organizational astuteness and professionalism
- Progressive record of strong relationship-management skills, including an ability to build rapport with business areas
- Strong orientation to team and organization's success.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to effectively interact, collaborate with, and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization
- Superior writing and communication skills
- Attention to detail and creative flair
- 7+ years of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence design and development experience
- 5+ years of experience with SQL Server and SSIS
- 5+ years MicroStrategy and/or OBIEE and/or other major BI product
- SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL proficiency required
- Familiarity with data modeling tools such as ERWin required
- Informatica knowledge a plus
