Middle Office Engineer

In support of our expanding exploration of global markets, we are hiring a Middle Office Engineer.  This position develops and monitors automated processes that reconcile post-trade data and create pre-trade data for the upcoming trading shift.  This is a great opportunity to work in an algorithmic, high frequency trading firm that interacts with 50 markets around the world encompassing all markets and asset classes.  This role is central to our trading operations, our “mission control,” and maintains successful business operations.

 

Additional responsibilities:

• Reconcile all trade settlement/break issues and end-of-day processing including daily trading profit and loss for the firm (domestic and international).

• Enhance system controls and automated system checks to validate our market positions.

• Interact with internal departments including Trading, IT, Back Office, and Accounting to resolve system discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, and identify time-critical issues.

• Work with the Chief Compliance Office and Director of Trading to identify operational and system improvements in order to reduce operational risk.

• Heavy use of Shell scripting is involved for the day-to-day tasks.

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.

• 2 years of middle office/back office/operations experience with high priority given to those with experience in covering trade settlements, fail control, root cause analysis, and reconciliation of trade discrepancies.

• Recent programming/scripting expertise is required, Unix KSH Scripting and SQL preferred.

• Nimbleness to adapt to changing priorities in a time sensitive role.

• Excellent verbal communication skills.

You must possess high accountability, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to communicate cross-departmentally and at all management levels due to the criticality of this role.
