Northrop Grumman Information Systems (NGIS) was selected by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency to participate on the Missile Defense National Team. This team was chartered to develop a Ballistic Missile Defense System for the United States. Air Missile Defense Systems (AMDS) serves as Northrop Grumman Information Systems' focal point for all activities associated with missile defense, including Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC), simulation modeling, systems engineering, and target discrimination.
The Missile Defense Systems Engineering Team (MDSET) is currently seeking a Systems Engineer 4 to be located in Huntsville, AL.
Position Description:
The candidate will be a member of the Integration and Verification Team (IVT) for the Missile Defense System Engineering Team (MDSET). Primary responsibility for this lead systems engineer will be as follows:
Demonstrated leadership in development and analysis of system level test event scenarios and capabilities, behaviors, engagement conditions, data collection needs, characterization points and evaluation criteria to support current and proposed BMDS functionality and architectures.
Demonstrated success in system level ground and flight test development and technical system analysis, team leadership and presentation of results
Test event definition, design and development to include systems engineering analysis, evaluation and planning logic
Assist with pre/post event design analysis and assessments to include development of deliverable engineering documentation, presentations, action item closure and briefs to senior MDA leadership.
Primary tasking will be the development of deliverable products, plans and tools to support both the development and operational baselines (environments) while identifying alternative methods and solutions related to event execution, risks and trades when necessary.
Basic Qualifications - Candidates must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- Bachelor's Degree in technical field and a minimum of 9 years of experience in an engineering classification.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Experience with Missile Defense flight and ground tests required, to include experience in at least one of the elements that make up the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS), such as Aegis, GMD, Sensors, THAAD, C2BMC, etc.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Knowledge of modeling and simulation implementation across a major group of systems required.
- Knowledge of the System Engineering processes for the development and release of system of systems testing, evaluation and assessment documentation to include data collection, success criteria and analysis requirements, interface design and implementation specifications.
Preferred Qualifications - Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
- Understanding of ballistic missile behaviors, radar system behaviors, missile defense radar behaviors, command and control systems, space systems and how they relate to missile defense.
- Understanding of and ability to describe the interoperability and relationships of sensors, weapons and communications systems within the BMDS.
- Candidates should have a strong systems engineering and test design background, demonstrated collaboration and executive presentation skills and be able to perform in a fluid, geographically distributed team environment.
