Modeling and Simulations Engineer - Hybrid Controls
Voith Turbo Inc. is currently seeking an experienced modeling and simulations engineer to support robust, model-based development of hybrid powertrain control systems.
Duties:
• Develop and tune core simulation models to capture actual performance of hybrid components and systems
• Work with internal and external testing resources to develop test plans to support correlation of simulation models with physical testing results
• Support development of hybrid component and system functional requirements
• Develop configurable model architecture to achieve various and progressively more detailed simulation deliverables
• Develop optimization tools to support hybrid system controls design in order to achieve program performance and efficiency targets
• Support the development of model-in-the-loop (MIL), software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing capabilities
• Support development of hybrid system fault diagnostics and testing
• Develop and maintain well organized documentation of models and toolsets
Requirements
• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical or Mechatronics preferred, Mechanical or Physics considered
• Extensive experience using MATLAB/Simulink
• Good understanding in the physics of electrical systems, combustion engines and thermodynamics for ground up modeling development
• Experience with scripting in MATLAB and/or coding in C
• Experience in the correlation of simulation models to actual test results
• Experience with power electronics and/or propulsion systems
• Knowledge of ultra capacitors, batteries, inverters, motors, generators, engines, and motor vehicle accessory and thermal systems
• Experience with PSAT and/or Autonomie a plus
• Experience with system energy flow analysis and optimization a plus
• Experience with dSPACE rapid prototyping and/or auto-coding tools a plus
• Passionate about the energy efficiency and the hybrid vehicle technology space
• Ability and desire to interact extensively with a cross functional engineering team, suppliers and customers
