Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) offers investment management services to global investors, investing in equity, fixed-income, liquidity and alternative products on a worldwide basis. The Operations group supports these investment activities, providing middle-office services including portfolio manager support, client services, portfolio transitions, market registration, product data and performance. These activities are underpinned by outsourced arrangements with State Street, providing services including trade support, reconciliations and reporting.

The Fixed Income Operations Specialist will operate in a cross functional role across the middle office. This will ensure seamless service for portfolio managers and clients across a number of strategically important fixed income mandates. The individual will be responsible for the management and oversight of front to back processes, including those performed by State Street, in order to ensure holistic coverage for these clients.

Skillset requirements and detailed functions include:

- Total ownership for the operational support of a suite of strategic fixed income mandates, including one particularly unique relationship with a highly technical and sophisticated client.

- Direct client interaction to deliver first class service, resolving queries and managing expectations with day to day activities.

- Partnering with internal counterparts across the firm to deliver on larger client led initiatives including for example portfolio restructuring.

- Partnering with State Street as outsourced service provider to deliver on client requirements.

- Oversight for the accurate and timely production of client reporting, including some in house report production activities.

- To drive forward enhancements with the current reporting for these clients, ensuring greater efficiency and data accuracy within the process.

- To partner with the Client Relationship Management and Investment teams in the delivery of client requirements and resolution of queries and issues.

- To ensure mandate changes and trading activity are considered in the broader light of what is delivered to the clients in terms of reporting.

- To take an holistic, front to back approach in overseeing the accuracy of the books and records.

- Ensuring all procedural documentation is up to date and accurate.

- Working proactively with counterparts on a global basis, in making recommendations for process improvement and consistency.

Skills Required:
Candidates for this position will have gained direct investment management experience in a servicing role. The individual must have excellent attention to detail and be a self-starter who is able to maintain a high standard of accuracy while managing various deadlines, a creative individual that can work both independently and as part of a team working to exceed expectations. Strong communication and time management skills are required together with a proficiency in Excel. A financial related degree or equivalent is desirable.

- Proven client service experience specifically within a similar investment management role / environment.

- A detailed understanding of investment management reporting, specifically in respect of fixed income and derivative based portfolios.

- An advanced understanding of the use of fixed income and derivatives instruments; the processes by which they function and their characteristics.

- Strong risk awareness.

- Has proven ability to interact with multiple internal and external functions.

- Comfortable dealing with senior individuals and management across these functions.
