Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) offers investment management services to global investors, investing in equity, fixed-income, liquidity and alternative products on a worldwide basis. The Portfolio Services Team is responsible for providing support across MSIM's product and vehicle range, with a focus on those accounts managed from London. The team is the primary operations point of contact for the investment teams and covers a variety of functions ranging from reporting to cash management to product development support.

As manager of the MSIM Portfolio Services Operations group, the individual will play an integral role in servicing portfolio managers, investment and trading teams, as well as providing oversight for functions performed by our outsourced service provider; State Street. In addition to management responsibilities, the individual will also be expected to provide production cover within the fixed income support space.

Skillset requirements and detailed functions include:

• Direct responsibility for the operation of the Portfolio Services team on a day to day basis. This will include line management responsibilities for four individuals.

• To conduct performance reviews, goal setting and career management for all direct reports.

• To play a lead role in managing the relationships and providing oversight of the support provided to MSIM's investment and trading teams.

• To provide specific production support for the Fixed Income investment and trading team, including query management and the monitoring of trade activities.

• Oversight of functions performed by State Street and monitoring of service levels, including portfolio manager reporting, reconciliations, trading and corporate action support.

• Participation in service level review meetings with State Street and other service providers.

• Using strong business sense and judgment to identify potential risk areas and take appropriate remedial action.

• Monitoring service levels, KRI's and KPI's to asses current and trend risks. To make recommendations and highlight those risks via the appropriate escalation channels.

• Coordinate with internal business units, including IT, to deliver tactical and strategic solutions as and when required by the investment teams, including for new products and instruments.

• Partner with other Operational teams including Client Service and Transitions in the resolution of client queries and delivery of solutions.

• Leadership of and involvement in multiple local and global projects and goals, including outsourcing conversion activities.

• Ensuring all procedural documentation is up to date and accurate.

• Working proactively with counterparts on a global basis, in making recommendations for process improvement and consistency.

Skills Required:
• Strong, demonstrated experience specifically within a similar investment management role / environment.

• Proven experience in managing direct reports, including day-to-day oversight, performance reviews, goal setting and conflict resolution.

• Excellent fixed income and derivatives product / instrument knowledge as well as experience with other asset classes and instruments.

• Strong risk awareness.

• Proven ability to interact with multiple internal and external functions.

• Comfortable dealing with senior individuals and management across these functions.

Candidates for this position will have gained direct investment management experience in a similar role. The individual must have excellent attention to detail and be a self-starter who is able to maintain a high standard of accuracy while managing various deadlines, a creative individual that can work both independently and as part of a team working to exceed expectations. Strong communication and time management skills are required together with a proficiency in Excel. European language skills and a degree or equivalent, whilst not essential, are desirable.

Skills Desired:
Working knowledge of multiple jurisdictions and legal requirements, including but not limited to Italian pension funds, German KAG's, Australian Superannuation Funds, Luxembourg SICAV's and Dublin registered funds
