Mortgage Intern - Correspondent

Participates in a formal internship program with a duration of at least ninety days. Internship includes performing various assignments to become familiar with the organization and gain basic work experience. Work assignments are augmented by classroom training, self-study assignments, workshops, networking and/or other events. Wells Fargo Funding works with Correspondent clients and is part of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. Wells Fargo Home Mortgage has long been the leading residential mortgage lender. Correspondent clients include large and small banks and mortgage companies, which provide borrower financing. These companies originate, close and fund loans, before selling them to Wells Fargo Funding. Wells Fargo Funding pays the client a base price according to current market value placed on the characteristics of a particular loan. These loans are most often pooled and sold on the secondary market. The Correspondent Operations Internship is an entry-level, paid, summer internship that provides hands-on experience within an operations structure. Correspondent Operations interns will learn the secondary mortgage purchase process beginning with the review, underwriting, and funding of the loan under the direction of Managers. You will gain experience in risk assessment, management and controls. Specific internship training and responsibilities include: - Completion of a strategic project relevant to driving efficiencies in the operational process. - Learning the specifics of Wells Fargo Funding products and programs. - Learning about risk mitigation in the consumer lending industry. - Government regulations and Wells Fargo policies related to consumer lending compliance. All Wells Fargo team members are required to complete a criminal background check before their start date. Wells Fargo will not sponsor visas for these positions, and will not hire individuals whose work eligibility is based on their F-1 or other student visa status. Candidates must be able to work in the United States on a permanent basis. This intern program does not provide relocation or student housing expenses. Minimum Qualifications: - Juniors or Seniors (graduating between June 2012-2014) currently enrolled at least half time in a 4-year college program. - At least 12 months of demonstrated experience in leadership through involvement in clubs, fraternities or sororities, community/volunteer organizations or other leadership experience or work experience. - Must be available to work a full-time schedule for all 10 weeks of internship beginning on June 4, 2012. - Superb interpersonal skills. - Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate ideas and strategies clearly, both verbally and in writing. - Strong leadership and entrepreneurial potential with a demonstrated drive for results. - Solid analytical and mathematical abilities. - Proficiency in handling multiple projects and deadlines. - Able to work in a demanding and highly focused production environment, independently and collaboratively in a team. Preferred Skills: - Impactful involvement through work, volunteerism or activism with diverse populations and/or communities. - Preference will be given to candidates whose field of study provides exposure to finance, risk management, accounting, and/or knowledge and work experience directly related to loan underwriting or processing.
