Incumbent’s primary function is to effectively use their analytical skills and experience in lending to make quality loan decisions according to VyStar mortgage policies, practices, and procedures. Must stay abreast of conventional, FHA, and VA mortgage guidelines. Incumbent makes credit decision within his/her authority and VyStar policy, up to a maximum loan amount allowed by secondary market guidelines. Incumbent must be familiar with all regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance. The incumbent reports to the Mortgage Origination Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Review credit worthiness of all mortgage applications originated within the mortgage department, call center, branch network or the Internet.

• Assist processors/interviewers in determining acceptability of various mortgage applicants prior to the complete processing of files.

• Identifies critical issues and makes judgment calls within approval limits and guidelines.

• Must be able to recognize credit requests that do not meet mortgage department criteria and refer them to Business Services, if appropriate.

• Assist in the training of processors to maintain compliance standards.

• Incumbent must be thoroughly familiar and stay abreast of any and all changes pertaining to secondary market, state/federal regulations and private mortgage insurers at all times.

• Demonstrated knowledge to restructure loan to render favorable loan decision, when possible.

• Cross-sells other credit union services.

• Identify and make recommendations to Mortgage Origination Manager and department Vice President regarding process improvements, quality service and increased efficiencies within the processing unit.

• Performs the activities and projects as assigned and requested by the Mortgage Origination Manager and/or Vice President of Mortgage Lending.
