Mortgages Compliance Officer

One of the world's largest banking groups requires a Mortgages Compliance Officer to join their team and focus on their under-performing mortgages portfolio. 

In 2007, the bank acquired an independent Mortgage provider that was suffering liquidity issues in the wake of the credit crunch. This opportunistic acquisition led to the growth of a huge real estate mortgages portfolio that is in the £billions. The firm is committed to managing this portfolio in a cost effective way through a 3rd Party Administrator - your function would be to provide both Compliance Advice and Monitoring of the Administrator on an ongoing basis and representing the Bank in relation to all queries related to the portfolio. 

Key responsibilities for the role:

* Maintain and develop a risk based regulatory monitoring program
* Provision of day to day compliance advice to the retail mortgage business
* Providing opinion on best practice in relation to customer communications, general application of FCA and OFT rules regulations in relation to Mortgage products as well as Data Protection Issues. 
* Preparation of regulatory returns for the Mortgage related entities
* Act as the relationship manager for the bank with the OFT and the Information Commissioners office
* Keeping abreast of UK, European and other relevant legislation and regulatory developments
* Managing regulatory investigations and reviews for the retail mortgage business

The Candidate: 

* Excellent understanding of the FCA Handbook (in particular MCOBS and the Data Protection Act)
* Strong Mortgage / Retail Product knowledge (ideally evidenced with professional exams such as FPC, IMC or CeMap)
* Relevant experience working for a retail mortgage lender or administrator.
* Ability to travel throughout the UK (day trips generally though some overnight stays may be required)
* Good monitoring and compliance audit skills
