POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Develop, manage and maintain new supplier item review, acceptance and execution of the process.  Objective is to assure that no items or deadlines are missed and that UNFI has the right new items at the right DC’s at the right time.  Meet company goals for profitability, sales and process timeline.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

·         Overall responsibility to manage the multiple new item requests from retail customers, UNFI SRM, UNFI sales team, and the web portal.  Coordinate with appropriate SRM /SRMA team to have all new suppliers and items added within a 2-3 week (maximum) timeframe. Track the progress. Coordinate and communicate with the entire SRM team and organization to keep the progress on schedule.  Assure that no items or deadlines are missed.

·         Manage the overall process of releasing suppliers from “New Supplier A/P hold”.  Review inventory status with the buyers across all UNFI DC’s to determine if new items have successfully launched and authorize supplier release from payment hold.

·         Identify and direct each new item request to the appropriate SRM /SRMA team so each team gets only their own requests. This included fully identifying the new item as to major classification (grocery, chill, frozen, supplements, body care, bulk, non-food)

·         Work with new suppliers to assist them in completing the required new supplier set up paperwork. Make dealing with UNFI a positive experience.

·         Be sure that all appropriate paperwork and backup is received and sent to the appropriate departments for new supplier new item set up.

·         Work with sales to develop effective new item request process.

·         Proactively ensure proper product mix.

·         Develop and maintain supplier welcome packet which gives a new supplier contact information to all departments they will interact with, along with frequently asked questions and answers to issues typically encountered by new UNFI suppliers.

·         Research and locate the suppliers requested. Determine the appropriate contact person within the supplier and establish contact.

·         Handle supplier cold calls. The SRM team receives many calls from potential new suppliers requesting information on how to get started with UNFI. This would include attending certain trade shows to facilitate new suppliers starting up with UNFI. ( Expo, and table top shows)

·         Supervise the maintenance of new item spreadsheets intended to communicate the status of items working through the set up and coding process.

·         Track number of new item ads versus deletes to maintain available slots by DC.

·         Track the guaranteed new item to assure UNFI receives full RTV coverage for failed items.

·         Establish new item performance metrics:

o    Time to process new item requests (2-3 weeks maximum)

o    Achieve minimum sales during the guaranteed sale period

o    New item success rate

o    Total new suppliers on boarded per period

o    Total new sku’s on boarded per period

·         Develop SOP’s for new vendor and new item set up within the SRM team as well as other business units that affect the process and maintain them as the business expands and changes.

·         Develop and administer supplier diversity or emerging supplier focus.

·         Ad Hoc projects as needed in support of the SRM team.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Education/Certification:

·         Bachelor’s degree

·         1 - 3 years related experience

 

Experience Required:

1-3 years experience in a management role
