NC - Senior Software Systems Engineer
Job Description NC - Senior Software Systems Engineer Targeted Skills Competencies: Primary job requirements (15+ years experience required): ? Expert level of proficiency with Software Configuration Management systems from industry leaders such as Rational and Serena. ? Proven technical leadership skills, and experience in guiding and supporting complex enterprise-level transitions to new technology systems. ? Proven ability to design, architect, and engineer software systems from the ground up. ? Extensive experience and skills in coaching, mentoring, and training IT technical teams. ? Proven ability to implement IT best practices and efficient systems design in large corporate environments. ? Thorough understanding of SDLC and Configuration Management concepts, and the ability to put them into action. ? Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Required technical skills: ? Rational Team Concert (3+ yrs) ? Rational Build Forge (3+ yrs) ? Rational Asset Manager (3+ yrs) ? Serena Release Management (3+ yrs) ? Linux/UNIX (10+ yrs) ? Java/J2EE (10+ yrs) ? Scripting (Perl, shell, etc.) (10+ yrs) ? Ant (8+ yrs) ? Oracle (8+ yrs) Expected Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership and support for the transition from existing Software Configuration Management tools and processes to new ones. ? Guide and mentor the administrators of the new tools. ? Work with the tool administrators to implement best practices, corporate standards, and efficient processes. ? Create high-quality written technical documentation. ? Translate business requirements into effective and cost-efficient technical solutions. ? Assist with troubleshooting and problem solving. ? Analyze performance and capacity issues . ? Collaborate with other IT technical staff to make decisions and achieve results. ? Comply with corporate standards and policies. Suggested Experience Qualifications: Bachelor?s or Master?s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. Preferred: external certification in relevant field of expertise.
