Information Systems sector is seeking a Linux / VMware System Administrator to support the Battlefield Airborne Communications Network (BACN) Joint Urgent Operational Need (JUON) Program. The successful candidate must have the ability to solve technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned and primarily focused on Linux, VMware and IP networking. Advanced knowledge of Linux and VMware operating systems is required.

This engineer will be expected to build, operate, maintain and support the design, development, and testing of the Linux / VMware components of the BACN payload. This position requires in-depth advanced knowledge of Red Hat Linux (RHEL) version 5.4, SELinux, Red Hat Directory Server version 8.2, VMware ESXi version 4.1 and the VMware Infrastructure client. This system administrator will spend 80% of the time “administering Linux and VMware systems. The successful candidate will have the ability to define, build and implement Linux and VMware kernels and configurations, kick-start setups and RHEL YUM / Satellite servers.

This engineer will be expected to support design, development, and testing of software applications running on Intel based computer systems using primarily RHEL operating systems as well as troubleshooting BIOS issues, working daily with RAID arrays, cabling, and chassis hardware. A working knowledge of, and experience with Cisco IP networking and general computing is a plus for the successful candidate. Experience with military COMSEC such as High Assurance IP Encryptor (HAIPEs) is also a plus.
