Summary
We are seeking a highly technical and experienced network engineer with at least basic security administrator skills to provide their expertise in managing, supporting, upgrading and proactive monitoring of FXall’s network infrastructure. Additionally you will support our customer needs by providing advice and support in establishing their connectivity and assist in troubleshooting their problems related to connectivity and performance to our systems. The successful candidate is self-motivated and can work both independently and in a team setting to help provide network solutions and problem solving/troubleshooting needs for all our FXall network environments. The candidate will be assigned to projects including application development support, network setup, monitoring, problem resolution, upgrade efforts as well as to provide support for our 24 x 7 production environments, test environments and office environments. You will work with our NY and Singapore team to provide support for our global infrastructure and trading systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provide all necessary hands-on configuration, implementation and troubleshooting needs to support all our network and security environments
- Provide proactive monitoring and performance tuning support for our network and security environments
- Hands-on configuration, implementation and troubleshooting and full support of network components
- Firewall rule additions and maintenance
- LAN, cabling and datacenter management. Script writing for log analysis and repetitive tasks Documentation of work
- 24 x 7 scheduled on-call support for network issues
- Management of WAN network
- Design and implementation including product and vender selection
- Disciplined status reporting and communications of task and project progress
- Troubleshooting customer connectivity and performance issues
- Troubleshooting of issues beyond the scope of traditional network and security roles and responsibilities
- Ability to prioritize and heavily multitask between operational support issues, proactive monitoring and a heavy project workload.
Required Skill Sets:
- Excellent troubleshooting and protocol analysis skills required
- Experience using Sniffers, tcpdump, Ethereal/Wireshark; Niksun NetVCR a plus.
- Very strong knowledge of TCP/UDP/IP protocol suites
- Routing protocols (BGP, RIP, OSPF); Network L2 failover/cluster methods (HSRP, VRRP, etc), Spanning Tree
- Configuration and troubleshooting experience Cisco routers, switches
- Experience with Brocade/Foundry, Arista, Juniper switches and routers a plus
- PIX/ASA and Checkpoint firewalls configuration and troubleshooting skills
- Load balancers (CSS, Foundry ServerIron, F5) firewalls configuration and troubleshooting skills
- Good understanding of multicast. RPF, IGMP, PIM, DVMRP
- Network Management Tools and methods, SNMP, syslog, email, socket testing, latency measurements
- Bandwidth analysis and latency analysis skills required
- Working knowledge of ISPs, extranet providers, circuits and WANS
- Familiar with general security concepts and best practices
- Security conscious mindset required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Visio and general documentation skills
- Ability to maintain open communication with co-workers at all times
- Ability to maintain consistent and accurate communication of work progress
- Simple UNIX/Linux Administration skills
- Understanding of application protocols, i.e. FIX, JGroups, Sonic, HTTP
- Experience with site-to-site tunneling methods and configurations and remote-access solutions
- Experience with ECN and high frequency trading environments a plus
- Script writing (shell, perl, awk, etc).
Education/Experience
- BS / BA – Computer Science or related degree a plus
