Description of position This position performs analysis and other tasks necessary to design, configure, and implement Costco*s enterprise network infrastructure with a focus on North America and International connections along with strategic partners. This will involve working with Network Engineers across the Infrastructure and Applications Development areas to develop detailed design recommendations and solutions, and execute against strategic plans and roadmaps. The position entails Network monitoring and troubleshooting, cooperative engagement with other departments on core projects, resolving network issues and concerns, and analysis and implementation of network changes. Tasks and responsibilities Gather and analyze user and project requirements; design solutions to meet those needs working with Network Engineers Responsible for daily troubleshooting, support and maintenance of network infrastructure. Provide support to other IS groups on IS Core projects, maintenance issues, and technical questions Analyze network capacity and availability to meet networking requirements while maintaining a secure environment Research new networking solutions to solve problems or deficiencies Thoroughly document and diagram network solutions, configurations, and break/fix steps Mentor and provide training to Networking Specialists and Network Operations Center (NOC) personnel Provide 24 X 7 on-call pager support Periodic off-hours work required including weekends and holidays Occasional travel may be required Required skills, abilities, and certifications Minimum of 4 years of experience and/ or equivalent education in networking design and implementation in a multi-protocol environment Thorough understanding of the OSI model, as well as IPv4 protocol suite Established knowledge of multi-vendor packet filtering and proxy firewalls Established experience in Cisco Firewall features: IPS, CBAC, ACLs, NAT, IPSec VPN and GRE tunnels Design, configuration, and implementation experience with Cisco IOS routers, Cisco switches, Cisco ASA Strong troubleshooting skills to isolate network faults utilizing both packet sniffers and enterprise network analysis tools Experience with DNS, WINS and IP management tools Established understand of Load Balancers and traffic shaping protocols and tools Experience developing/administering/troubleshooting VPN and SSLVPN partner systems Knowledgeable in configuration and troubleshooting of DLSw, DHCP, NAT, and HSRP protocols Ability to design solutions and resolve problems with IP, EIGRP, BGP, RIPv2, DLSw, HSRP, and other protocols Experience with T1, DS3, Frame Relay, AVPN, ISDN, DIP T1 and DSL and MPLS data circuits Experience configuring and troubleshooting of BGP routing protocol, with multi protocol route redistribution Established proficiency of LAN Switching and WLAN 802.11 a/b/g Access Points and Wireless Bridge technology Knowledgeable with multi factor authentication and authentication processes and protocols. TACACS+, Radius, LDAP, AD, authentication services, as well as PKI and token/certificate based authentication Knowledgeable on Security Best Practices and Procedures Able to work with vendors providing/supporting hardware and networking services in a professional, respectful manner Must have strong project management skills; experience utilizing project management tools and formal methodology Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to create and present documentation or proposals for projects/tasks Ability to work closely with other departments on projects and problem resolution, actively and effectively participate in technical discussions Ability to work effectively and make confident decisions under pressure Recommended skills, abilities, and certifications General understanding of LDAP and/or Active Directory Environment General understanding of email systems Experience with DNS, WINS and IP management tools Experience with Unix, Linux, Sun/Solaris server administration and virtualization (VMWare) Knowledge of proxy servers, caching/content engines To Apply: Email your current resume to IT_JOBS@costco.com If hired, you will be required to provide proof of authorization to work in the United States.
