New Business Control Specialist recruitment
As the New Business Control Specialist at UBS, you will be part of a 3 member Asia Pacific Team responsible for Wealth Management (WM) new business initiatives (NBI) and transactions which need pre-approval (TRPA) according to its "New Business and Transactions Requiring Pre-Approval" policy. The scope will stretch across all different WM functions and requires strong skills in coordinating and liaising with control and support functions, origination and products/services as part of the approval co-ordination process.
Besides being directly involved in coordinating the approval for cases in Hong Kong and Singapore, the APAC team also lends support to the colleagues from Japan, Australia, China (and future domestic locations) responsible for the NBI/TRPAS from those locations. You will also interface with the Global NBC colleagues to discuss cases that have been escalated to them as well as support the APAC approval of products that have been initiated globally. NBC also conducts post implementation reviews (PIRS) to ensure conditions set during the approval process have been adhered.
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
• Coordination of approval for New Business Initiatives (NBI)/Transactions Requiring Pre-Approval (TRPA) for Hong Kong and Singapore
- Provide guidance to "Internal Clients" who are looking to seek approval for a new business/transaction
- Identify potential road blocks and show stoppers based on past experiences
- Review proposal submitted to ensure it is of an acceptable standard and quality
- Facilitate and co-ordinate meetings to discuss a case with control, support function and Initiator
- Challenge and understand the rationale for the conditions and the risk that is intended to be mitigated via the condition
- Consolidation of comments and conditions into a sign off sheet
- Issue approval for the case, making known the conditions set as part of the approval
- Updation of database and inventory of cases handled and approved
- Track adherence to key pre-launch conditions
- Support colleagues responsible for NBI/TRPAs from domestic locations that currently include Japan, Australia, China and Taiwan e.g.
- share experiences of cases handled out of Hong Kong and Singapore
- provide guidance and be a sounding board for complex and difficult cases
- roll-out of Global policies
- escalation and co-ordination with Global NBC if needed
- Conduct of Post Implementation Reviews (PIR) of cases approved that has been classified high risk
- to ensure conditions set have been adhered
- appropriate remediation actions identified
- escalation and reporting to Senior Management of PIR findings
- Reporting
- Maintain data-base of cases approved, rejected, earmarked for PIR, etc
- Extraction from data-base so as to provide management reports to APAC Senior Management and NBC ZH
- Ad hoc reporting to support requests from GIA, external auditors, regulatory requests, etc
Our ideal candidate should have the following requisites:
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in a banking environment, preferably on Private / Wealth Management
- Knowledge and understanding of products and services offered to Wealth Management clients in particular in the area of Capital Markets / Structured Products
- Appreciation of risk management/control concepts
- Internal audit experience is highly preferred
- Able to identify risks and issues using logical analysis and conceptual thinking to resolve problems
- Firm and be able to articulate clearly and rationale decisions made
- Matured and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Confident and able to interact with Senior Management
- Good inter-personal skills and communication skills
- Occassional travel in the APAC Region
