The Division of Rheumatology at the Columbia University Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Nurse. With the practice manager, oversees daily activities of the technical staff in the Faculty Practice of the Rheumatology Division. Assists staff in triaging patients for appointments. Monitors patient safety and satisfaction. Monitors compliance, including JACHO standards, CUMC/NYP standards, and environmental and safety considerations. Develops divisional Standard Operating Procedures for patient care, biologic therapies, etc. Develops and maintains educational materials for patients and provides individual instruction to patients as needed for initiation of biologic therapy. Assists faculty in drafting letters of medical necessity, disability claims, appeal letters. Supervises clinical research coordinators to ensure safety of patients enrolled in research studies. Administers FDA-approved and experimental intravenous and injectable biologic therapies for patients participating in research studies of such agents. Educates non-Rheumatology research nurses (e.g., CTSA) as needed regarding rheumatological procedures and therapies needed for the conduct of research studies. Liaisons with clinical and research pharmacists. Given the opportunity, participates in community and/or peer presentations and author or coauthor publications related to areas of expertise.

 

Minimum requirements:

Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education or experience, plus four years of nursing experience. BLS certification; B.S./B.S.N. degree. Current RN license in NY State. Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
