Job Title Nursing Assistant Health Unit Coordinator Facility Aurora Medical Center Summit-135 Address 36500 Aurora Dr City Summit (Town of) State WI County Waukesha Zip Code 53066 # Hours Per Pay Period (Bi-weekly) 40 Schedule Days with rotation Req # (optional) 89055BR Explore a Career In Nursing Services Job Description * Assists the RN with the care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, repositioning, ambulating, and feeding. * Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs (temperature, pulse, respiration), I O (intake and output), daily weights. * Documents requested information and promptly communicates observations, concerns and needs of the patient to the RN. * Ensures patient call light is in reach of patient at all times; answers call lights promptly. * Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens as requested. * Completes various errands as directed, including pick-up and delivery of trays, charts, specimens, reports, etc. * Transports or assists with the transport of patients. * Prepares patient rooms for admission/discharge and assists with the patient admission/discharge process. * Keeps careful track and documentation of patient belongings. * Maintains and orders stock for nursing area; cleans equipment and work areas. * Assists with post-mortem care. * Takes action to promote cleanliness and safety for patients, visitors and staff. * Maintains/updates knowledge and skills by attending department staff meetings and required inservices. * Contributes to quality improvement activities by making suggestions for improvements in processes and supports change efforts in the organization and department. * Maintains a safe work environment; follows organization and department safety policies including standard precautions. * Contributes to the achievement of organization and department goals through effective participation as a team member on an ongoing basis. * Coordinates tests and treatments with and between various departments for the patients on the nursing units. Maintains a working knowledge of the functions and services offered by all diagnostic and treatment departments in order to facilitate the scheduling of tests and treatments. Provides appropriate documentation. * Facilitates communications for the Nursing Unit. This includes a working knowledge of the multiple-line telephone, floor paging and in-house systems, and the hospital information system. Screens incoming telephone calls. * Utilizes various hospital computer systems, i.e., mainframe, documentation system. * Monitors department office equipment and troubleshoots minor problems.
