Nursing Team Leader

DESCRIPTION:

FHN is seeking a Nursing Team Leader - OR, Full-time

- Department: Surgery (Operating Room)
- Hours: Day shift; 7am-4pm
- A baccalaureate degree in nursing and certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization is preferred and strongly encouraged

JOB SUMMARY:

Consistent with the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards of Practice (2004), the Team Leader is a professional nurse and a member of the FHN healthcare team and is accountable for the delivery of holistic, compassionate, individualized and effective patient care demonstrated by the use of the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning implementation and evaluation. In addition, the Team Leader is responsible for behaviors consistent with the professional nursing role, appropriate to their education and experience, including activities related to quality of care, performance appraisal, education, collegiality, ethics, collaboration, research and evidence-based practice, and resource utilization. The Team Leader facilitates interdisciplinary team planning to maximize patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care and serves as a clinical resource for the defined patient population. The Team Leader assumes accountability for the nursing department in the absence of the clinical Leader.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

A baccalaureate degree in nursing and certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization is preferred and strongly encouraged. An Associate Degree Nurse will be considered if the individual is currently in the process of completing his/her BSN.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 
The Team Leader must be a registered nurse and must hold an active license to practice nursing in the state of Illinois. A baccalaureate degree in nursing and certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization is preferred and strongly encouraged. An Associate Degree Nurse will be considered if the individual is currently in the process of completing his/her BSN. The registered professional nurse must continuously seek opportunities to enhance their own professional nursing practice. Membership in an appropriate professional nursing organization is recommended and previous leadership experience including charge experience, community leadership, group facilitation, committee or project involvement or an active role in the change process is necessary. Two to five years experience is recommended.
