My Client is a leading global company in the food and food ingredients business. They are seeking an experienced OHS Officer / Safety Officer preferably with experience in a food manufacturing environment. Your main function in this newly created role to development, implement and maintain effective practices to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all employees, contractors and guests.
This is an excellent opportunity to really make your mark using your OHS experience. Your responsibilities are to;
- Provide support and assistance to management regarding safety matters to ensure a culture of continuous improvement
- Promote the development and implementation of safety standards and legislation that address all compliance and due diligence requirements
- Ensure the company’s safety, quality and environmental management system is adhered to by all project staff and subcontractors.
- Conduct audits and inspections and analyse findings of these audits and inspections for systems improvement.
- Prepare reports for project management head office as required.
- Assist with education and training of all staff in all areas of safety.
- Assist with the preparation of work method statements, project plans, inspection and test plans and other documentation with regard to risk assessments and safety advice.
- Contribute to the planning, coordination and delivery of safety training programmes, inductions, workshops and other presentations
- Implement system changes and improvements
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and proven ability in communicating to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience within a safety position with sound knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, risk management principals and associated standards relevant to a multi-disciplinary environment
- Have a Certificate IV in OHS (or higher) along with RTW experience
- Strong administrative and computer / IT skills
