ODS ETL Analyst / Data Modeler
Job Description:
This role will be responsible for working as a member of an agile software development team delivering working software for our business lines. Data Modelers work with Data Analysts to understand the data needs of data Producers (viz. owners of applications which inserting data into the ODS), to understand how the data interrelates, and to produce the Physical data models. Data Modelers follow standards that promote a common vocabulary and the sharing of data. They capture meta data around business entities and attributes and determine the mapping between ODS Data Models and Producer's Data Models. The Data Modeler will analyze producer and consumer requirements and identify any gaps. Data Modelers also work with application developers to understand data and workload volumes and the data access requirements of an application. They use physical database concepts like denormalization, partitioning, indexing, and clustering to produce these designs.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience modeling complex databases using third party modelling tools such as ERWin.
- Extensive experience in developing logical and physical data models in complex, multi-application environments.
- Extensive experience in Oracle core and additional feature.
- Strong knowledge, and experience with, Design Patterns, Universal and Reference data models (UML is plus).
- Strong experience designing model with an eye toward high performance, scalability, and high availability.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Strong experience of working collaboratively with other data modelers and applying Enterprise Architecture defined standards.
- Good knowledge of standards and specifications such as XML and XSD.
- Good knowledge of advanced SQL query techniques.
- Ability to conduct and manage meetings facilitating requirements gathering and design reviews.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Hands-on experience in data management, data transformation (metadata is plus).
- Good technical writing skills and ability to produce clear, concise and targeted documentation.
