Oil Assets Financial Controller
The Asset Accounting team are looking to hire an Oil Assets Financial Controller to coordinate the financial and management accounting for the oil asset portfolio, including the reporting to oil management and HQ. The role requires interaction with the oil asset accounting team, including the EP team and Shipping department and frequent business travel to West Africa.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of the asset financial results each month into the company reporting system and follow up variances / incorrect bookings
- Preparation of the monthly oil assets reporting package to oil management in London
- Ensure the assets submit their monthly management report to the respective oil management and co-ordination of a monthly package for the major oil assets
- Ensure accurate allocation and booking of overheads / expenses and notional interest to the oil asset portfolio
- Participation in various projects, notably Russian projects.
- Interrogate and follow up any relevant intercompany reconciliations between company asset entities
- Co-ordination of the asset budget and assistance in preparation of the asset budget to oil senior management and to company senior management
- Liaison with external and internal auditors
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- ACCA / ACA (ACA or CA preferred), ACCA as a minimum requirement
- Big 4 background is advantageous
- IFRS experience – decent level of IFRS proficiency - essential
- Oil and gas experience – advantageous but not a requirement
- Proficient in MS Excel - essential
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills - essential
- Organised and an excellent communicator – essential
- Competence to deal internally with traders and management and also with our investment partners as well as the relevant financial controllers of the various assets
- Russian language (written and spoken) – advantageous
- Well presented, professional and able to confidently debate technical issues
- Ability to take on responsibility and function independently
