Operational Risk Manager – Private Bank – Guernsey recruitment

Functional responsibility is to provide board members, executive management and regulators with independent assurance that all risks are captured, measured, monitored and managed within the companies defined risk appetite and processes adhere to local regulatory requirements. To work closely with, business unit heads and staff across all areas of the business in mitigating operational risk. To ensure risk infrastructure is in place and operational and to contribute broadly to the Risk Management objectives in the company.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with maintaining and developing an effective operational risk management framework to enable articulation of a meaningful risk appetite and management of risks in accordance therewith.

• Prepare, process and analyse all daily, weekly, monthly and ad-hoc management reports in a timely, effective and accurate manner for management review including escalation.

• Provide clear, effective and timely analysis and advice to colleagues and the Head of Risk and Compliance and Risk in Guernsey and the CRO enabling clear risk-based assessment and decision-making.

• Provide operational expertise on products and the risks associated to them interacting with the committees involved in making product decisions,

• Providing expert input and maintenance of relevant risk policies for the business, including training.

• Building good working relationships with a wide range of internal stakeholders.

• Provide any training requirements related to operational risk and deliver them on an ongoing basis or as required.

• Provide decisions on operational risk issues within signing authority of this role.

• Provide general assistance for the development of the Risk Function including on-going projects, streamlined procedures, data quality and reporting.

• Assist in the analysis of new business and expansion opportunities.

• To foster actively the development of risk culture throughout the KB Group.

• Contribute to the Enterprise-wide risk infrastructure and culture within the firm.

Candidate requirements:

• 3-5 years operational risk experience within the Financial Services sector.

• Ideally broad knowledge of the Private Banking industry and the products offered.

• Good understanding of operational risk concepts and experience embedding risk management frameworks preferable.

• Demonstratable senior stakeholder management skills and experience.

• Ability to influence, challenge and drive forward new initiatives in to the business.
