Operational Risk Manager, Vice President recruitment

The primary focus of the Operational Risk Manager is to provide efficient risk management analysis of State Street Global Markets in London.

Responsibilities Purpose:
Collaborate with colleagues in Enterprise Risk Management to provide a sound risk management program for the State Street Global Markets (SSGM) business. SSGM provides specialized research and trading and innovative portfolio strategies to owners and managers of institutional assets.  The Securities Finance division of SSGM lends securities and provides liquidity in more than 30 markets around the world.  The Risk Manager position is based in London, with some domestic and international travel expected.
Identify, assess and measure operational risk profile using a variety of tools, including risk control self-assessment and operational key risk indicator reporting.  Implement required elements of the corporate operational risk program within SSGM in support of Basel II compliance.
Analyse risks and recommend appropriate internal control improvements.  Independently manage projects designed to improve risk management strategies.
Investigate operational losses; analyse root causes and trends.
Prepare risk reporting suitable for executive management review which highlights key exposures and areas of focus.  Monitor business changes and advise senior management of risk mitigation strategies.
May act as a liaison with regulatory agencies, internal and external advisors and other internal control groups on risk related issues.
First level supervisory position responsible for the direction and training of subordinate staff.
Chair the SSGM Operation Risk Committee.

Essential Skill and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Extensive risk experience and experience in the subject matter relevant to the business unit.
