Position Description:
Morgan Stanley Global Network Management (GNM) was formed in response to the Firm's need to coordinate the selection, evaluation, and management of its subcustodian network. In addition, the group is responsible for managing the market infrastructure relationships, including local exchanges, clearing houses depositories; and advising both its internal and external clients on the operational aspects of the markets in which the Firm operates.
GNM provides support directly to a range of business units including Equity, Fixed Income, Equity Financing Services, Foreign Exchange, Listed Derivatives, Commodities and Private Wealth Management among others. The group's responsibilities are divided geographically with representation in New York, London, and Hong Kong.
The successful candidate would be responsible for:
•Analyzing market developments (including short term emergencies) and working with BU and Infrastructure colleagues to ensure appropriate responses
•Understanding and negotiating requirements for agent bank participation in new Morgan Stanley product development
•Agent Bank relationship management
•Agent/market due diligence visits
•Agent bank performance monitoring
•Maintaining up-to-date agent and GNM business continuity plan
•Coordinating with firm's Compliance and Legal departments on firm's regulatory requirements
•Analysis of agent bank pricing
•Statistical analysis of asset and transaction volume trends
•Fee negotiation
•Market research and analysis
•Global GNM/ firm initiatives project work
•Collation, analysis and distribution of market information affecting foreign investment in the region
•Supporting pre-investment applications and client conversions in Asian region
Skills Required:
•University graduate, with suitable financial markets experience. 7 plus years of Operations experience within the Asia Pacific region would be considered a plus;
•Good understanding of operational and regulatory aspects of equity and fixed income markets, preferably with specific knowledge of the Asia Pacific Markets
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly written communication;
•Excellent analytical skills;
•Outstanding spoken and written English, while other major Asian languages would be considered an advantage;
•Ambitious and highly motivated with an ability to work with a minimum of supervision
