This is a tremendous growth opportunity for a high visibility, highly motivated leader in a "spotlight" Sodexo North America account. The Vice President of Operations - Detroit City Schools will provide students with a conducive learning environment that is safe, clean and attractive. Position requires at least 5 years of direct experience managing and leading a large urban school district or similar institution including the facilities management department (maintenance, engineering, custodial, grounds/landscaping, and minor construction projects) of at least 200 school sites. Advanced communications skills required in managing, working with, and encouraging collaboration among diverse working teams including 32 Managers, 7 minority sub-contractors, and 900 hourly staff. This group consists of departmental union and non-union front-line workers, supervisors, managers, administrators and special interest groups across a range of disciplines for instructional, operational and community related groups. You must be enthusiastic, outgoing, and dynamic. Someone with a personal working knowledge of the Detroit educational, institutional, union, and business communities is preferred. Candidate must be well versed in implementing change, financial and contractual controls over a 55-60MM operating budget, establishing key performance indicators, ability to constantly explore methods to improve over-all service delivery, implementation of policies and procedures, be creative and responsive to the school district needs, Human Resources, and be astute working within a highly political environment. The Vice President of Operations must, on a continuous basis, communicate and collaborate with key stake holders at all levels of the client?s organization, as well as internally. Also, must be the key liaison with the school board plus local, regional, state and national institutions, organizations and agencies for all facilities of the Detroit Public School System. A very strong hands on person with experience working with local community groups and foundations to achieve their goals in food drives, back to school fundraisers, backpack, and other charity fundraisers is critical. Position Summary : Serves as the primary representative for client accounts within a designated geographic area including policy compliance, staff training and development, financial performance, and client retention. Responsible for successfully coordinating and directing all activities within the area through DMs, regional support staff and regional employees. Works in all matters relating to contract and account operations. Ensures that all employees under his/her operational control comply with all client, government, corporate and Division policies and procedures.
