Oracle Database Administrator - HCQIS

Job Description
Provide database support for applications and databases as they relate to the Validation / Verification, Prod Fix and Production environments within the HCQIS infrastructure. Specific duties include:
· Ensure the effective daily operation of the databases in addition to engineering and administrative support for new database implementations, upgrades, and migrations.
· Monitors the database servers for issues with disk space, CPU usage, memory problems or other issues that may impact the end-users.
· Reviews deployment plans and performs database upgrades / deployments.
· Organizes and documents database backup and recovery processes for applications as needed.
· Remains flexible while meeting resource and customer needs.
· Monitors functionality of equipment to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications.
· Develop and document new processes and procedures governing technical projects.
· Occasionally perform scheduled evening and/or weekend work; perform after-hours emergency work as required by on-call. Participates in on-call rotation.
· Writes, reviews and, as necessary, revises and ensures accuracy of deployment plans, test plans,/test scripts in Buccaneer test tool of choice that match application requirements.
· Reports results, anomalies and findings of testing to team leads/supervisors.
· Executes test cases/test scripts for various applications.
· Reports, tracks and logs defects and findings into CMS approved tracking tool.
· Participates in the planning, implementation and testing of various applications for projects as assigned.
· Assists other team members as required in database related testing activities such as test case “before and after” data validations, database load, and import and export processes.
Required Skills
· Strong, hands-on, working knowledge of relational databases and experience working in an Oracle 10g and 11g environment in both OLTP and Data Warehousing databases.
· Experience working with Oracle OEM (Grid Control), Oracle RAC, Oracle RMAN backup and Recovery, and Netbackup.
· Strong Unix shell scripting skills.
· Expertise in performance tuning of Oracle Databases and tuning application SQL.
· Strong understanding of Database Modeling principles and translating to physical database structures.
· Experience with Oracle Streams; Proficiency with MS Office applications
· Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
· Excellent coordination, planning and interpersonal skills; Effective organizational, writing and communication skills.
· Relational Database proficiency with Oracle version 8 or higher and/or SQL server 2000; Proficiency with SQL and Oracle PL/SQL languages.
· Proficiency with database tools such as Oracle SQL Plus, SQL Worksheet Enterprise Manager and SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent; or four (4) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
