A group company within NTT DATA currently seeks a Oracle/SQL Server DBA to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
We currently seek a Database Administrator with experience in Oracle and SQL Server to join our team in Halifax, NS Canada. The successful candidate will provide solution design and implementation support for our client's VMWare implementation, disaster recovery, datacenter migration activities and provide expert thought leadership and solution support to aid moving their database, storage and network infrastructure into NTT DATA Inc.'s Cloud environment.
In addition, the successful candidate will work alongside our Infrastructure Practice Canadian Lead to expand its Database "Center of Excellence" to North America. Experience providing solutions and technical hands on support migrating clients' applications and infrastructure to both public and private Cloud environments is preferred - in depth knowledge of Cloud Solutions is a definite asset. Flexibility for travel to the U.S. and U.K. is required.
The Engineer will be responsible for working on projects in support of Oracle/SQL Server and potentially other RDBMS products, VMware, and Cloud technology platforms. Resource must have experience with architecting, engineering, documenting and implementing technology best practices and should have experience in supporting enterprise level environments with a thorough understanding of operational support requirements. In depth experience and an understanding of our Infrastructure Practice's service offerings and operations model is a strong asset enabling the candidate to successfully expand our COE and integrate it globally.
Experience:
- Solid experience in database and application design
- Experience in SQL Server 2000/2005/2008, replication, High availablility features like mirroring, log shipping
- Should have experience in handling and leading multiple Database projects.
- Should have Project Management skills.
- Demonstrated experience in database performance tuning and SQL code tuning
- Experience in setting up proactive moitoring and maintenance plans.
- Hands-on experience in delivering enterprise-wide IT systems in major industries
- Extensive knowledge in Oracle Architecture, Capacity and Scalability planning.
- Experience in Backup and recovery solutions.
- Capacity planning and monitoring database growth.
- Ability to analyse and correct database performance issues at the highest levels
- Strong communication and people skills
- Self Starter and motivated to own the end-2-end responsibilities
- High customer focus
- Installing, managing and monitoring Oracle RAC environment and ASM
- Implementation Knowledge of Data guard, Data guard Broker and Flash Back is required.
- Provide DBA support for all tactical and strategic initiatives through change propagation, database design and security design and other tasks as assigned.
- Develop and deploy leading edge replication and high availability solutions
- Evaluate new database features and tools to address expending business requirements such as those generated to support globalization across the extended international customer base
- Developing and establishing standards, best practices and provide Database expert guidance for the teams.
