Caplease is currently being acquired by American Realty Capital Properties (NASDAQ : ARCP) and will be responsible for managing ARCP’s domestic and global office and industrial net lease business. The Caplease team of 16 professionals is recognized as leaders in the net lease sector. Origination Associate Job Summary

The Origination Associate position primarily supports the origination team in evaluating and analyzing potential real estate acquisitions, and will also include asset management and corporate functions. The candidate should be able to work both independently and as part of a team

Principal Responsibilities

• Underwrite and analyze potential real estate acquisition opportunities, including but not limited to financial modeling (using MS Excel and Argus) and extensive market and company/credit research.

• Assist with evaluating and obtaining property level debt financing.

• Assist with all due diligence related to new acquisitions such as the review of third party environmental and engineering reports, title, survey, historical property level financial statements, and leases.

• Assemble and draft investment memos to be presented to the internal investment committee and Board of Directors.

• Assist with asset management, which entails leasing, development/construction management, marketing, and property management duties. 

Skills Required

• You must be a graduate from an accredited four-year college or university. BBA in real estate, finance or accounting is preferred but not required.

• You must be very proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and possess skills in financial modeling and analysis.

• You have strong communication, leadership and analytical skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

• You must be a self-starter and entrepreneurial in nature.

• Two to three years of work experience in commercial real estate or related field

Interview Process

Interviews will take place at CapLease offices. Interviews will be conducted by senior managers and executives. Successful candidates can expect two to three rounds of interviews.
