Paralegal & Corporate Governance Specialist recruitment

A new opportunity is available within GE Capital UK for an experienced Paralegal with a strong background in global Corporate Governance.  The ideal candidate will have worked in-house for a large international organisation will be used to managing legal entities across many businesses.  The role will be supporting a team of Lawyers so therefore your Paralegal responsibilities will be key to this role also.

Role Summary/Purpose

* Assist legal team in the production of legal documentation for new transactions and existing clients including, but not limited to, preparing first drafts of documents based on precedents and other portfolio management documents (Proposal letters/Commitment Letters).
* Assist legal team in the closing of transactions including, but not limited to, liaison with senior business leaders and internal and external counsel, ensuring ancillary documents to closing are raised and executed, registrations made and internal processes adhered to.
* Work on corporate governance implementation projects (GEMS implementation/LE Governance Policy implementation/LE Simplification Project).
* Preparing quarterly accruals for EMEA expenses.
* PO raising/legal invoice management for the EMEA legal team.
* Day-to-day corporate housekeeping (Updating corporate matrix for all corporate changes (such as board changes, signing authorities, etc.) and arranging board meetings.
* Record Management (of hard/digital copies and CMS) and monthly reminders for unsigned documentation.
* Maintain matrixes on execution and other processes.
* Provide general administrative and paralegal support as required to the global legal team.


Qualifications/Requirements

As a Paralegal Corporate Governance Specialist your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

* Legal Training/qualification (law degree/diploma) with a minimum of three years’ experience at a large law firm or corporate legal department.
* Ability to work across multiple jurisdictions and functions; strong English language skills.
* Superior project management skills; self-starter, ability to prioritize multiple projects concurrently.
* Excellent communication skills; team player; dynamic; ability to interact effectively at all levels of an organization.
* Demonstrated knowledge/experience of compliance/regulatory issues in one or more relevant jurisdictions.
* Understanding of GE Spirit and Letter requirements and systems.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
* This individual must be highly motivated and capable of leading change in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Characteristics

* Experience working in a financial services business in Europe.
* Experience with working on transactions in multiple jurisdictions in EMEA.
* Experience in accounting or finance.
* Multilingual.
