Part Qualified Accountant – Freight Trading recruitment
Your responsibility will be to ensure adequate processes and controls are maintained and documented. The provision of effective management information is essential along with ensuring monthly actual, annual budget and year end reporting is timely and accurate. Complex aspects of financial activities need to be managed and recorded as well as ensuring compliance with UK GAAP accounting standards.
Ideally you will have some experience of operating within a trading environment in a role such as Product Control.
You will be an integral part of the Freight Trading Team with a reporting line to the Financial Controller.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensuring the timely and accurate production of corporate monthly management and statutory accounts.
- Preparing analytical review and analysis on the monthly numbers.
- Reviewing related tax computations.
- Managing the corporate annual budget process.
- Preparation and management of the statutory year end process for corporate entities including liaison with external auditors.
- Monitoring hedging strategy and daily risk exposure.
- Assist in preparing technical guidance notes on complex accounting issues and new accounting standards.
- Regular interaction with the Group, traders and operational teams to ensure reporting is correct.
- Additional ad hoc tasks that arise within the department.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- A part qualified accountant from a recognised accountancy background.
- Experience of operating within a commodities, brokerage, shipping or trading environment would be beneficial.
- Good technical accounting skills, able to apply themselves to everyday accounting issues.
- Self-sufficient with the drive and ability to see tasks through to completion.
- UK GAAP knowledge is essential while FRS knowledge is desirable.
- A proactive and ‘hands-on’ approach whilst paying attention to detail.
- A strong work ethic; the ability to work to tight deadlines whilst dealing with competing priorities is essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Computer literacy essential, especially strong Excel skills.
