Payroll Controller

Payroll Controller – Belfast – 6 to 12 month contract – Salary depending on experience

Hays have been retained to recruit an experienced payroll professional to join one of Northern Ireland's top IT companies based in the Belfast area. Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, this role represents a significant opportunity for a suitably experienced accounts professional.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

· To key input into payrolls, check input and calculate payrolls
· To produce BAC’s reports for clients and ensure that they are authorised on time
· To ensure that all payments are processed correctly according to the agreed schedule
· To produce payroll reports and pay slips for the client
· To handle client queries in a professional and friendly manner and by taking full ownership of the query always ensuring that a resolution is delivered to the client on time
· To maintain communication with 3rd parties such as Inland Revenue, CSA, Pension Providers, etc
· To escalate issues to the payroll supervisor immediately if a problem occurs during processing
· To process end of year returns accurately and on time
· To maintain all necessary administration relating to the above tasks

Essential Criteria

· Educated to GCSE level or equivalent including Maths and English
· Good understanding of Payroll legislation
· 3 years + experience of processing payrolls accurately and on time
· Experience of working within a customer focused environment
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

Desirable criteria

· IPP qualified or equivalent
· Experience of processing payrolls in an outsourced payroll environment
· Desirable to have a full clean driving licence
