Job Summary and Purpose: The Payroll Tax Account will be responsible for auditing all benefit payments generated from both the automated feeds and the manual payments.  This individual prepares the monthly Annuity Reconciliation, manages the submission of the Federal and State withholding taxes for all benefit payments, reconciles State and Federal tax general ledger liability accounts, and resolves variances.

This position is responsible for ensuring that all retirement payments are accurate and paid timely, as well as ensuring that all applicable State and Federal income taxes are withheld and paid on time.

Requirements of the position include:
• Audit and finalize benefit payment disbursements, performing a detailed audit on all benefit payment batches
• Manage Federal and State withholding taxes for all benefit payments, ensuring all appropriate Federal and State taxes are withheld from all benefit payments
• Pay State Taxes withheld to the applicable tax authority and prepare withholding state returns and submit, based on each state’s required schedule
• Prepare month end journal entries and post to Oracle’s General Ledger
• Reconcile RS 401K State and FIT Liability Accounts on a monthly basis
• Reconcile FIT Form 945 on a quarterly and annual basis
• Balance and disburse monthly annuity payments
• Act in the role of subject matter expert, and as Team Lead, assuming critical duties as needed in the manager’s absence

 

 

Requirements and Primary Selection Criteria:

To be considered for this position, please bring:

• Associate’s degree in Accounting (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
• 2-3 years of experience with the use of payroll applications
• 2-3 years of experience with processing of payroll or benefit payments
• Knowledge of Federal and State tax withholding, payments, and filing requirements and regulations
• Knowledge of 1099-R processing preferred
• Ability to work with complex financial spreadsheets and reconcile items with minimal supervision or guidance
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word applications
• Solid organizational and communication skills
