The AWS Internet Services, Infrastructure team is responsible for the strategy, acquisition, implementation, and maintenance of relationships with strategic suppliers and partners to expand and grow Amazon's AWS footprint worldwide. This includes finding optimal solutions to Amazon's ongoing needs for data center capacity; working closely with network carriers to obtain capacity for expansion and growth of both Amazon's global backbone; and meeting the operational sourcing requirements for new products, services, and initiatives prior to launch. By applying a unique blend of business and technology experience, you will work closely with both outside parties and internal teams to find creative, cost effective, and often unusual solutions to meet Amazon's ongoing growth and expansion needs worldwide. The Peering Program Manager will play a pivotal role in organizing, tracking, and implementing peering activities in close coordination with other team members. This individual will respond to peering requests, will coordinate peering connections with both external parties and internal teams (including provisioning), will assist in establishing peering with partner networks at new Internet exchanges globally, and will work closely with network operations teams to ensure that peering connections are upgraded in a timely and effective manner. This role is suited for someone who is excited by rapid growth and is willing to chart new territories and define new processes where there is none. This can include both mundane and more strategic tasks and can work productively in a team oriented environment. Basic Qualifications Qualifications * A Bachelor's Degree in an IT related field or equivalent experience is required * Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years industry experience in a similar environment. * Experience working in an IP peering role at a large network operator required. * Understanding and experience with Internet scale traffic engineering and associated routing policy is a must. * Experience interacting with senior executives and other management within a company and working across commercial, technical, domestic, and international arms of an organization. * Interest and experience using technology and the internet to improve work efficiency. * Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills. * Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization abilities; an excellent attention to detail. * An analytical, data-driven approach toward solving complex challenges. Responsibilities * Monitor, track, and respond to inbound interconnect requests from other network operators. * Interact with a trouble ticketing system, provide status updates to internal and external parties, and track provisioning of new peering connections. * Assist data center and network operations engineers in provisioning cross connects and network resources for peering. * Update internal peering tools and other relevant documentation; * Review through documentation and reports to identify areas for peering expansion and/or extension. * Work with network engineers and the Internet Services Manager to analyze network traffic and trends. * Assist the Internet Services Manager and other internal groups to develop and improve processes for rapid installation and upgrades of peering connections globally. * Must be able to handle highly sensitive, confidential, and unusual information with a diplomatic and friendly approach. This position also requires strong interpersonal skills, vendor management, strong project management and time management skills and a successful track record of coordinating and driving issues to resolution.
