Description Under direct supervision of a pharmacist, supports the workflow of the pharmacy department by greeting patients, stocking supplies pharmaceuticals, operating cash control systems. Essential Functions: * Greets members in a courteous caring manner. Answers telephone consistent w/ the service stards, requesting pharmacist's intervention when appropriate. * Assists members by informing them of the status of their prescription in the filling process answering basic benefit questions. * Files filled prescriptions in pick up bins. Removes "not picked up" medications from the bins processes them appropriately. Sorts files prescription hard copies in readily retrievable form. * Protects confidentiality of the patient's medical rug profile from other members personnel. * Receives payment for prescription over the counter medication upply sales. Operates the cash register issues receipts. Enters payment claims for third party cardholders where appropriate. Balances cash register drawers prepares bank deposits. * Keeps pharmacy work areas clean well stocked w/ supplies. Assists in restocking of drugs medicines on pharmacy shelves. * Assists in the shipping, h ling, invoicing, delivery of medications supplies to medical facility departments, interdepartmental pharmacies or to patients. * Assists w/ clerical duties related to the prescription refill mail order processes where appropriate. This includes customer service telecommunication, shipping handling, etc. (Mail Order Pharmacy). * Assists w/ clerical duties related to infusion therapy services where appropriate. This includes customer service telecommunication, shipping handling of IV medications supplies, delivery arrangements, etc. (home infusion pharmacy) * Performs other related duties as directed. Secondary Functions: Qualifications Schedule Details: * Rotating schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays. * Variable schedule during operation hours Mon - Fri 7:00am - 11:00pm, Sat Sun 9:00am - 5:00pm. Basic Qualifications: * High School diploma or GED equivalency * Eligibility to enroll in formal pharmacy technician training, if desired. * Compliance w/ all state board of pharmacy rules licensing requirements where applicable required. * In order to work effectively w/ patients, must have effective interpersonal communication skills be able to stand , walk, bend, lift at least 50 pounds, hear, speak, see. * Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to communicate effectively w/ members co-workers. * Ability to operate a cash register. * Basic keyboarding skills. * Basic arithmetic skills. * Ability to solve problems. * Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
