PhD Operations Research/ Statistics- Junior Researcher- Electronic Trading- US-$250K++ recruitment

US based hedge fund with a strong background in quant analytics and mid-frequency trading are looking to expand their existing team with operations research or statistics based juniors.

The Company

Multi-billion dollar hedge fund with offices spanning Hong Kong, London and New York are looking to appoint PhD candidates in operations research, statistics or financial mathematics for their quant analytics and mid-frequency trading teams in the US. They firm have a team of 20 or so traders and developers already and are looking to bring on board candidates with strong analytical and quant research skills.

Historically the firm has been involved within the equities space but more recently have begun operating cross asset. Although the firm has a global presence they have always been successful in building small sub sets/ sub-teams that contribute to large alpha generating.  

Your role will involved working closely and supporting senior traders especially in the first 3 or so months once you embed yourself in the company culture. Once you have your feet in the ground you will be more involved in the implementation of trades, although initially your role will involve researching and back testing systematic strategies. This will also involve model building and evaluating different trading models in order to optimise the alpha generated within the group.

Ideally you will have a PhD or Msc within an analytical field; operations research, statistics or financial mathematics and have relevant internships. A background in optimisation is highly desirable.

Requirements

• Strong analytical background- academic background in maths, statistics or operations research from a well established institution.

• Strong quant  and research skills

• Looking to come in as an entry level candidate but willing to move into a more senior role within a year or so.

• Maths Olympiads are highly desirable
