Pipefitter / Mechanic Technician

The successful dual qualified pipefitter / mechanic candidate(s) will include but not limited to: Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems, pipe supports, and equipment for steam, air, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems, applying knowledge of system operation, and following blueprints. Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports, and hangers, according to specifications. Welding experience is necessary. Mechanic will be responsible for the troubleshooting and repair of industrial machinery in a production/manufacturing atmosphere and will be responsible and must be skilled with a variety of pumps, motors, valves, conveyor systems, gear boxes, compressors and a variety of other associated manufacturing equipment.

This position requires successful completion of a journeyman certification program and 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment. Non-certificate candidate must have at least 10 years of craft related experience in a manufacturing environment.

PPG Industries offers a starting salary of $24.39 per hour plus benefits; with a top rate of $25.53 after 12 month progression.

PPG Industries Inc., a Fortune 500 leading producer of coatings, glass, chemicals, and fiberglass has full-time openings for production associates at the Barberton chemical manufacturing plant.
The Barberton facility is looking for people who can work safely using good judgment in all work situations, effectively resolve and troubleshoot problems, demonstrate willingness and an ability to adjust to change.  Other tasks might involve, but not limited to, making necessary changes to control settings and adjustments on processing units affecting speeds of chemical reactions, quality, and yields. Other operational tasks include recording operating data such as process conditions, test results, and instrument readings. The successful candidate(s) will work effectively with others to accomplish goals and take ownership.  The position requires working with mechanical equipment, hazardous chemicals, laboratory devices, and attention to detail to produce products meeting the customers' quality requirements. Some manufacturing experience is required. 
Production associates must be able to be assigned to any production area in the plant and most operations run a 24/7 schedule. Associates will work holidays, weekends and rotating shifts.
PPG Industries offers a starting salary of $14.47 per hour plus benefits; with a future progression top hourly rate of either $18.96 up to $25.68 per hour based on the job assignment.
