Posted Position Title: Sub-Section Manager - Combustion Aero Design Career Level: Experienced Function Engineering/Technology Function Segment: Product Design and Development Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: Ohio City: Cincinnati Postal Code: 45246-1204 Relocation Assistance Yes Role Summary/Purpose: The Sub-Section Manager - Combustion Aero Technology will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Essential Responsibilities - Provide leadership and technical direction for Large Military Combustion Aero programs and personnel, including the Advanced Combat Engine, ADVENT, and F110 Combustors - Provide support council and recommendations to section management - Establish work group goals within framework of section technical and financial objectives - Maintain broad awareness of efforts within group to ensure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs - Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organizations and within work group - Communicate with management on technical, organizational, resource and personnel issues - Define roles and responsibilities for assigned personnel - Conduct performance appraisals and participate in salary planning - Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counseling - Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within work group Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science - Minimum of 8 years of experience in a Program or Project Leadership role within an Engineering environment Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Desired Characteristics - PhD and / or Masters Degree in Engineering - Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in combustion fundamentals, combustor aerodynamics, combustor component testing, and advanced combustion technology - Demonstrated knowledge of combustion systems design - Experience in new product development - Effective team building and project management ability - Strong oral and written communication skills - Strong interpersonal and leadership skill - Knowledge of mechanical design and assembly procedures Why join one great company when you can join many?
