Plant Engineer – Chemicals

Our client is an industry leader and this position is accountable for plant process design, improvement of plant efficiency, small in-house project engineering and providing engineering assistance.   

This job has excellent visibility and job done well will lead to additional responsibilities.

Requisites

·        BS in Engineering, and Chemical or Mechanical preferred.   

·        7+ years experience in product process and design, plant operations, and governmental engineering codes and regulations relative to the petrochemical industry. 

·        Demonstrated skills in engineering project management including contract negotiations and ability to communicate and coordinate activities affectively.

Responsibilities

·        Process Engineering responsibilities include becoming familiar with all areas of plant processes.

o       Initiate and investigate all options to increase capacity and improve efficiency of the plant.

o       Maintain ongoing, routine trending of major process operation conditions, such as catalyst activities, system pressure drops, reformer tube skin temperatures, compressor performance and energy conversion efficiency.

o       Assist shift supervisors and day supervisors in areas requiring technical assistance, and assist operations’ staff to insure the process is operating in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.

·        Project Engineering responsibilities include becoming proficient in all areas of project evaluation. 

o       Initiate/engineer plant changes, and perform project management responsibilities on smaller projects.

o       Engineer and prepare mechanical equipment specifications relative to plant modifications and repairs. Prepare process design engineering including process flow sheets and layouts. 

o       Assist in the area of contract negotiations relative to project work. Prepare purchase requisitions and assist in the selection of equipment and vendors.

·        Process Safety Management responsibilities include monitoring PSM compliance using the Management of Change system, assisting or leading HAZOP revalidations, assisting in maintaining Equipment Inspection files, training operators, and more.

·        Inspection responsibilities include assisting the Maintenance Department on inspection of deficiencies found during normal operation, and inspect fabricated equipment at the vendor’s location to insure compliance with specifications and schedule.
