Platform Analyst - Permanent - Abu Dhabi
A financial services client in Abu Dhabi is seeking to hire a Platform Analyst to join the existing Infrastructure Management and Operation team.
The Platform Analyst will be responsible for providing Operating systems, Active Directory, File shares support to end users and IT Staff with the objective of ensuring the availability of IT Platforms, Servers and Operating systems and its layered products (i.e. Virtualization, Clusters etc.)
As part of this position, the Platform Analyst will be responsible for:
- Contributes to the installation and configuration of Operating systems with its layered products and the overall quality of service provided by the Operating Platforms, Servers, Operating systems, Clusters, layered products and Virtualization.
- Assists in performing defined tasks related to the planning, installation, upgrade, operation, control and maintenance of operating systems and platforms for communication of data
- Provides 'first level' support to incidents and problems which have a low to medium degree of urgency and impact and determines the appropriate course of action and escalation
- Investigates and reconciles violation reports and loggings generated by automated policing mechanisms
- Contributes to the definition of user needs for new access rights and privileges, and administers logical access controls relating to one or more platforms in order to provide a continuous and secure access service
- Undertakes research to develop recommendations which meet user requests, and delivers appropriate platform solutions
- Contributes to the implementation of the Platforms strategy by monitoring the system specifications for operating systems and platforms
- Supports the development, monitoring and communication of the client's standards and guidelines for Platforms operations and services, including validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls, recovery routines and contingency procedures
- Collects and analyses data on software and operating systems performance to provide change recommendations and capacity planning recommendations
- Drafts accurate and timely reports on Platforms operations and related activities, vendor / system performance and customer satisfaction
- Maintains and updates disaster recovery plans according to agreed IT analysis methods, tools and techniques for identifying potential exposures to network and operating systems which support critical business processes
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or equivalent
- 0-3 years of experience to in computer operations including operating systems
- Certification in system operations (MSCE or CSA for Solaris and/or Linux)
- VMWare certification will be an advantage.
