PLATFORM RECS AND CONTROLS ADMINISTRATOR
Description:
A leading financial services provider is looking for a Platform Recs and Controls Administrator to join their office in Edinburgh on a permanent basis. The role will be within the Platform Centre and the focus is on the reconciliation and control of cash and assets. To deliver in this role, the job holder must have previous reconciliations experience within a financial services environment and a good knowledge of the cash and asset reconciliation processes within a platform operation, including the technology, the tax wrappers and the associated regulations. They must also demonstrate a flexible, can-do approach, taking full responsibility for each customer transaction.
Core Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for running and maintaining core team processes, including daily cash settlement, ad-hoc cash settlement, cash issue investigation, payment input, liaison with fund managers regarding cash/asset issues, cash account reconciliation, asset reconciliation for all four nominee companies, consistencies against procedures, process checking and error control
- Process management of exceptions arising from reconciliation, this is typically, the result of processing failures that require investigation and a solution outside the standard model
- Take responsibility for own development and work towards completing capability matrix measures and actively seek to build a full working knowledge of all end to end processes of the platform. Also work towards IOC qualifications if appropriate.
- Work of colleague’s quality assured to ensure that errors are minimised and the customer receives the best quality service. As required, and determined by the knowledge and experience of the job holder, support the development of Platform Centre colleagues by providing structured coaching and mentoring support for less experienced team members to ensure their training experience is enhanced and knowledge is shared across the Platform Centre.
- Responsible for recommending changes to procedures, process and technology and participating in their implementation to improve the customer experience, reduce risk and maximise efficiency.
- Keep up to date with the rapid changes to the Platform proposition, regulations and the company’s strategic direction.

Core Requirements:
- Experience of reconciliations within Financial Services is essential
- Financial services experience essential
- Previous experience of working in a Platform or Mutual Funds environment is desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of client money rules and practices
- IOC qualifications desirable or desire to work towards attaining these. (Achievement of these qualifications will be required to progress your career in the Platform Centre.)
- CII/FPC exams desirable
- An understanding of the principles of Client Money regulations is essential
- A good understanding of the application of Client Money rules in a platform environment is desirable
- Platform, SIPP, ISA and Mutual Fund knowledge desirable
- Good understanding of the Financial Services industry and the platform market in particular
- Knowledge of platform investments
- Good market and competitor awareness
- General knowledge of legislative, regulatory and compliance requirements / issues
- Understanding of financial services distribution, advisory businesses and processes
- A strong grasp of banking and reconciliation solutions
- Understanding of the objectives the customer is trying to achieve from the Platform and an ability to provide effective remote support that translates their requirements in to actions that deliver the required end result.
