Responsibilities:
The Global Support Team is responsible for managing prompt resolution to global customer and partner service requests in a highly secured environment. The primary function of this position is to ensure prompt resolution of Qualys Platform technical issues and proactive monitoring of the service. The Platform Support Engineer (PSE) works closely with Customer Service, Engineering, Finance, Sales, Alliances and Operations to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction with all transactions. Customer relationship building and teamwork are key success criteria for this role.
- The PSE will perform daily monitoring of platform and provide proactive support via phone, email, and WebEx for all related products delivered by Qualys Platform services
- The PSE will proactively communicate with assigned customers regularly and will act as the escalation manager with Engineering, Sales, OPS, and QA teams to facilitate resolution
- Provide Root Cause Analysis reports
- Assist Engineering teams to diagnose product defects
- Provide leadership on high profile account issues. Drive global support escalations when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with management, peers and account team in support of customer
- Support, coach and mentor technical support engineers
- Document assigned customers' technical and business environment, including key customer contacts and account management team
Qualifications:

- Able to work on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables
- Able to provide alternate solutions and to exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria that lead to prompt resolution of issues
- 4+ years of experience in a technical support role
- Unix/Linux experience
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructures
- Familiarity with Common OS services
- Strong knowledge of current firewall, Intrusion Detection System Brands technologies, and Vulnerability Network Scanners (Nessus, nmap, Cybercop, ISS Internet Scanner)
- Familiarity with Packet sniffers
- Windows AD authentication and security
- nmap and other network analysis tools
- Knowledge of Samba/AD integration, CIFS, DNS, ACL, server/client configuration
- Previous API support and Regex knowledge is a plus
- Oracle and Microsoft SQL knowledge highly desirable
- Preferably the candidate would have some knowledge of major web server software (IIS, Apache, Websphere, Tomcat, WebLogic), UNIX/Windows web services, and diverse platforms and applications (Linux, Windows 2003/2008, Windows NT, Novell, Lotus Notes, Mac OS)
- Strong customer orientation and possess an excellent work ethic
- Outstanding troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- CCNA, MCSE, CISSP, and CEH highly desirable
- Bachelor of Science, preferably with a major in Computer Science or another relevant field.
