Plumbing/Maintenance Technician

 

The Plumbing/Maintenance Technician performs plumbing maintenance duties for the College, as well as other general maintenance duties as assigned.  Installs, repairs, adjusts, and maintains all plumbing equipment of the College in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.  The Plumbing/Maintenance Technician  diagnoses and performs repairs in a safe, efficient, and timely manner; responsible for repairs, including evaluating  and identifying  materials and man hours required to effectively accomplish repairs.  Develops and maintains accurate records of work performed.  Attends classes and seminars as directed to update skills

 

Performs general building maintenance tasks as assigned including painting, carpentry, and electrical; assists in moving boxes and/or assembling desks, tables, or other items; works with the grounds department when required.  Must have ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

A high school degree or equivalent and five years verifiable experience as a plumbing contractor or in the plumbing trade, with ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision; ability to work from blueprints and materials list, and use all trade appropriate tools to perform general building maintenance tasks.  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.

Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license.

Ability to work established work schedule and additional hours as needed; this position may be required to come into work on weekends, holidays and in emergency situations. May be subject to “on-call” responsibilities.
