Job Description Job Classification: Contract We are seeking a strong synthetic chemist with experience in hydro-gel polymer design and electrochemical characterization techniques. The successful candidate will be a member of a dynamic, team-oriented group of engineers and scientists at the interface of microelectronics and molecular biology to develop cancer diagnostics. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Perform complex tasks using synthetic polymer chemistry; including hydro gels, acrylates, sol-gels, etc. - Functional polymer design and synthesis (e.g. smart polymers, stimuli-responsive polymers, electro active polymers, etc.). - Develop/build breadboards for electrochemical measurements. - Perform electrochemistry related tasks including electrode/electrolyte interfaces and related surface chemistries and microelectrodes. - Utilize standard electrochemical characterization methods for thin porous films. - Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience - Masters degree and a minimum of 4 years experience or Ph.D. and a minimum of 2 years experience in Synthetic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biophysics, Physical Chemistry, Electrochemistry or Materials Science required. - Must possess working knowledge of biochemistry and molecular biology techniques, deposition manufacturing methods. - Familiarity with molecular dynamics simulation a plus. - Previous experience in a start up environment highly desired. - Excellent written and oral communication skills required. - Must be highly organized with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
