Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including: security, fraud, information security, operational, credit, compliance, regulatory, market and reputational risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join Retail Banking and Wealth Management Risk (RBWM Risk) team in the role of Portfolio Risk Executive. The RBWM Risk Team is responsible for the development and management of HSBC's risk management framework across all Retail Banking Wealth Management products, supporting the business and ensuring risk strategies are focussed on maximising portfolio profitability across the full credit lifecycle spectrum. This role is specific to the portfolio risk management of Mortgages in Australia.
The production of high quality detailed portfolio information is an essential function of the Risk Team and therefore strong numerical understanding, written language and attention to detail is essential for this role.
Key responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Mortgage Portfolio Risk Manager and the Analytics Team to produce papers, presentations and reports to facilitate the management of the RBWM Mortgage portfolio.
- Provide support for delivery of key risk initiatives such as scorecard, policies, risk appetite , caps monitoring, audit / regulatory action items
- Assist with the review, improvement and where appropriate, streamlining of all RBWM Risk Management Information for the portfolio
- Liaise with teams across the business such as Finance, Product and Collections on projects, campaigns, capital management, process changes and regulatory/compliance changes.
- Build up an understanding of the RBWM Mortgage Portfolio and the banks customer information databases to work with the Analytics Team and articulate requirements for the production and improvement of regular and ad hoc risk based reports.
- Strong interest and understanding of the Australian housing market
Qualifications:
To be successful in the role you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications
- Strong attention to detail with aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Minimum two years previous credit risk management experience in retail banking/financial services is desirable
- Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills
- Able to work independently and also contribute as a team player
- Ability and desire to self manage knowledge and skillset building
