Ports and Maritime - Principal/Director (2IC)

Job Description We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maritime Engineer to join our Ports and Marine group in Brisbane. You will operate as second in charge of the Ports and Marine team, and in conjunction with the Technical Director provide day to day leadership, mentoring and guidance to the Maritime team members. In this role you will also provide technical competence to current and future projects, as well as be responsible for identifying potential Maritime opportunities and assist in the development of these proposals, using your extensive level of skills and knowledge within this field. Key responsibilities: - Provide technical leadership, support and guidance to all members of the Maritime team - Develop and maintain ongoing business relationships with key clients and customers - Identify potential maritime opportunities and assist in the development of proposals - Manage and discharge project obligations including preparation of designs, documentation, reports, costings, investigation and inspections in a timely and efficient manner - When nominated as manager of designated projects, you will plan, program and manage the resources applied such that agreed project objectives of quality, timeliness and profitability are achieved - Project management of projects considering budgetary and costing constraints - Prepare, submit and present papers at industry conferences and publishing in relevant trade journals and magazines from time to time - Take an active involvement in leadership and management initiatives - Assist the Technical Director - Maritime to deliver the growth, diversification and stability targets - Involvement in the development of expertise in our division of Ports and Marine Skills and experience we are looking for: - Post Graduate qualifications in any structural and/or maritime area - Experience with Maritime Infrastructure Projects (design and/or construction) - A proven track record in successful staff management and leadership - Previous experience in a consulting environment - Experience in business development activities - Exposure to or knowledge of port planning, including port operations - Exposure to or knowledge of geotechnical aspects of Maritime projects - Project Management skills ie: scope definition, development of work schedules, performance monitoring, budget management, reporting skills - Ability to provide innovative alternative working solutions to problems - Ability to manage self and apply coping strategies during high pressurised monthly deadline periods - Experience in multi-disciplinary projects
