PayPal is in the midst of an exciting expansion of its online merchant services to new channels including physical retail. The PayPal merchant product team is looking for product specialists who will partner with the sales team to achieve agreement to the PayPal payment acceptance within retailer environments. The direct contribution of the product specialist is in helping retailers understand the relevant features of the PayPal product and the specific technical changes to enable the product within their environment.
This role will evangelize the benefits of the PayPal product to the retailers product and technical teams and provide them sufficient detail to enable them to understand the integration effort. The individual will create a relationship with the retailer's product and technology team to enable a sufficient and necessary understanding of the PayPal POS product fit within their environment.
To the extent possible the individual will explore creative opportunities to help shorten time to market for the integration effort and also achieve long-term technical leverage of the integration. The outcome of the effort is a detailed understanding of the PayPal integration scope by the retailer.
At the right time, the sales engineer will transition the effort to an integration team which will work alongside the retailer on the actual integration.
The right candidate will bring a strong background in retailer environments and point-of-sale payment systems and technologies. The individual must have excellent communication skills and follow through in managing relationships with high-profile retailers. Knowledge of the payment industry ecosystem is a huge plus.
Success will be determined by an ability to get retailers excited about the prospects of the PayPal product within their environments and finding it easy to understand what it means to integrate. This requires an ability to understand payment technology and to be able to translate it for prospective customers.
There will be a need to travel to merchant locations and to PayPal implementation teams as needed for a knowledge transfer and collaboration.
