The U.S. Army’s Logistics Civil Augmentation Program IV (LOGCAP) provides contractor support and logistics work for U.S. military troops stationed in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait. As a LOGCAP prime contractor, Fluor is proud to support U.S. military personnel in various contingency environments around the globe. We provide the Army with the logistical support it needs, so that soldiers can focus on the mission at hand.

We are currently in search of a Power Generation Journeyman for a position located in Afghanistan.

 

Power Generation Journeyman

 

The roles and responsibilities for this position include:

Installs, operates, maintains and repairs power generators and repair facilities. Places, operates, maintains, and repairs spot generators, standby generators, portable generators, and light carts. Completes work orders and reports. Responsible for maintaining a fleet of power generators in a designated route.

 

Requirements for this position include:

·         High school diploma or GED equivalent required and 42 months of directly related experience, which must include 24 months hands-on experience with Power Generation equipment, in addition to ONE of the following additional requirements:

o        18 months experience with any combination of power generation, mechanical (diesel engine) or electrical systems, OR

o        Verifiable completion of a formal training program in Power Generation (military, major equipment manufacturer, or similar)

·         Licensure or certification preferred. 

·         Intellectually, the worker must be knowledgeable of appropriate power generation distribution techniques and maintenance procedures.

·         Demonstrates proficiency in the use of PC-based business applications, including a basic knowledge of applicable programs.

·         Good communication skills.

·         Considerable knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine repair and overhaul.

·         Knowledge of principles of electronics and electricity, including generation, conversion, transformation, distribution, and utilization.

·         Applicable knowledge of types, capacity, and purpose of high and low voltage circuits, circuit breakers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays, instruments, and meters associated with electric generation and distribution; interpreting instrument and meter readings; wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings and technical publications; techniques of operating and maintaining internal combustion engines, generators, generating plants, distribution panels, and accessory equipment. 

·         Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
