Power Shift Trader

The incumbent will join a large front office position working on a shift pattern covering 24/7 short term trading on the UK and European power markets. The successful candidate will gain a broad exposure to continental markets, and liaise with hubs across Europe on a daily basis - leading to long-term career opportunities within the firm. On a daily basis you will trade and balance the physical positions for power reacting to demand and other external factors - exposure of which will lead to a good grounding of the key drivers within the European energy markets.

Applicants must have a degree in a numerate, engineering or computing discipline and an understanding of power contractual and operational rules. You should already have experience working in a similar short term trading role on the electricity markets, or perhaps generation optimisation, and be looking for a step into a larger trading environment with increased responsibility.

Working with a mix of shift teams, power stations, traders and senior managers, you will have a range of exposure to varieties of personnel throughout the industry. There is a potential for successful applicants to take their career further into the front office trading route or perhaps more analytical paths within this firm.
