This position is in a Dallas, Texas label manufacturing plant.

Position Summary:

Sets up, operates, monitors, and maintains rotary web press to produce quality stock and custom labels in Dallas, Texas.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Completes detailed instructions from job orders accurately and precisely
  • Sets up and adjust press for job runs to meet specifications, including die cutting
  • Monitors product for quality during job runs, checks precision of detail against specifications, and takes action to correct any problems
  • Monitors equipment during job runs, remains alert to mechanical problems, and corrects or refers to maintenance as necessary
  • Meets standards for output, waste, and spoilage
  • Packs finished products into cartons, labels, and stacks on pallets. 
  • Oversees and provides instruction to the Packer when assigned
  • Initiates the startup and running of jobs in keeping with production schedule
  • Performs routine equipment maintenance; submits work orders for press maintenance or repair as needed
  • Completes related logs and paperwork accurately and timely
  • Adheres to safety guidelines and keeps work space clean and organized
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Basic:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and industry experience
  • Training and/or experience equivalent to apprenticeship completion on rotary web press
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Operational knowledge of rotary web press
  • Math skills including fractions, percentages and precise measurements
  • Ability to understand and apply detailed instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed performance standards
  • Knowledge of paper stocks, inks, and related materials/techniques used in the printing industry
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work tasks
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and twist occasionally
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to use hands to grasp, manipulate, push and pull repetitively
  • Good visual acuity to match and identify colors
  • Ability to complete detail work precisely
  • Knowledge of safety standards
  • Ability to meet performance and quality standards
  • Demonstrated record of consistent good attendance and punctuality

Preferred:

  • Two years label manufacturing press operator experience at journey level
